What is the identified problem?

In India day by day traffic is increasing which leads to Traffic congestion ,because of that waiting time in traffic and Wastage of fuel during waiting in traffic.

Brief about Solution


Urban traffic in India is increasing day by day leading to traffic congestion ,so we need an innovative technology which can control the traffic in a better way. Some of the modern innovative technolgies like SONAR technology was used in construction for measuring lengths, in surveying for measuring height,in submarine systems for detecting the obstacles.
The present work focuses on the application of SONAR Technology in traffic management and also deals with the relevance of the adopted technology.
    In our system , transducer of the Active SONAR emits ultrasonic waves which propagate through the air & reflects back when the vehicles are present on the way  at the time of traffic jam. Transducer is placed at a point from the intersection/junction  based on the maximum traffic volume on the road to calculate the distance of the last vehicle in the traffic line from that point through reflected waves. Hence, the length of traffic line can be found. In addition, the release time is also considered as a parameter to reduce traffic congestion.
In addition, the releasing time varies with the traffic lengths.
    If the traffic in the road 1 is greater than the road 2 , releasing time for road 1 has to be more and for road 2 will be less.We have to provide the releasing time alternatively for road1 and road2 so that the traffic in one road can't wait for the clearance of the other road.
So we can reduce the waiting time of vehicles in the traffic,wastage of fuel and accident rates. Ultimately the life span of roads will increase.



How well does the proposed solution enable great commuter experience?

It is well suited for the commuters by reducing waiting time in traffic so that they can reach their destinations in time . Fuel consumption rate decreases as compared to earlier.

How attractive is this idea for partners from transportation, business, government, non profit or other sectors to get involved?

As it is eco-friendly and less expensive all the organizations can easily take part in this .The life span of roads increases ,which is beneficial for transportation department.

Environmental impact, whether the proposed idea in predominantly service based without adding more physical structures

We are just using the acoustic waves which are harmless. There is no need to construct any huge physical structures and also it occupies very less space.
