Smart Traffic Congestion Control
What is the identified problem?
Congestion and traffic flow

Brief about Solution
My paper majorly
utilizes sensors, microcontroller for determining traffic flow
rate,GSM network to update the information regarding to traffic flow
rate,Wireless device poles embedded with displays for updating
traffic flow rate at junction. The sensors(Transmitter and
receiver)are placed at each lane in such a way that it can able to
detect vehicles moving in the range. It increment its count each time
when signal gets interrupted b/w t/x and r/x . Count will be sent to
micro controller. A switch named as leaf switch (
These are employed for generating short pulses that trigger an action
in the circuit) is placed beneath the road at a certain
distance from the junction . When vehicle pressure falls on sensor
for certain threshold time which is preset in controller then switch
gets closed and circuit operation of leaf switch gets triggered it
gives interrupt message to micro controller . Both the outputs of
sensors COUNT and LANE BUSY message given to controller the message delivered to traffic control room from different
junctions and message gets updated to poles by GSM situated at
different places in city by traffic control room .And then traffic
flow rate message will be displayed on LCD screen at particular
areas.
An another method for most efficient
traffic alert is that message from poles will be transmitted to
displays arranged in vehicles by using wireless technology such as
Bluetooth ,WIFI , Zig-bee. By implementing this system traffic
updates can be efficiently transfer to vehicles display.
Vehicle navigation also will get
simpler by similar arrangement at places where there are many ways to
reach the destination sensors count the vehicles and count will get
displayed on LCD screen , Which is arranged at common point of these
junction(many ways). These setup will be much useful in metro cities
because number ways will be there to reach destination .
Finally traffic flow at poles can be
controlled by employing transmitter and receiver setup described in
presentation. It works on principle receiving peak frequency signals
,when receiver receives peak frequency a brake system will get
triggers .An intimate zone is prescribed where every vehicle should
stop when red signal switches if he violates receiver will start its
work when he get into signal range.
Thus by employing all these traffic
congestion is reduced and traffic can be controlled.
How well does the proposed solution enable great commuter experience?
Present day a person is spending a few hours of his daily life in traffic. At this rate million hours of valuable time of people in country is lost with no use. With this new idea we are saving few hours of this valuable time by providing people smart and efficient way of transportation. Allowing them to reach their goals with no obstacles called traffic jams.
How attractive is this idea for partners from transportation, business, government, non profit or other sectors to get involved?
This idea of traffic congestion control will involve the combine efforts of government, transportation and technology sectors. This cannot be solely done by the government. So many business firms and other public sectors have to take part in this dream of congestion-free roads to come true in our nation. It is beneficial to private firms also not only in profit aspect but also as service to the country.
Environmental impact, whether the proposed idea in predominantly service based without adding more physical structures
Our idea of congestion control involves low cost , user friendly digital systems and smart devices with no further physical infrastructure for already cumbersome roads of the country. We are using Bluetooth,Wi-Fi and Zigbee kind of wireless devices for precautious way of reducing traffic jams at junctions. Since we are not constructing or using any eco-hazardous material or signals we can say that this idea is eco-friendly.
