Oracle Intelligent Signal System & Social Carpooling

“Oracle” is a solution that caters to the existing traffic problems such as congestion, accidents and commuting time.
Brief about Solution
“Oracle” is a solution that caters to the existing traffic problems such as congestion, accidents and commuting time. The form design is a result of bio mimicry. Inspired from the elements of a tulip, it accentuates the aesthetic appeal of the city. “Oracle” has been designed for the city of Pune. The product operates on the piezoelectricity generated by the pressure pads. Piezoelectricity is electrical energy produced from mechanical pressure (including motions such as walking). A car passing causes pressure when the tyre hits the ground. When the flooring is engineered with piezoelectric technology, the electrical charge produced by that pressure is captured by floor sensors, converted to an electrical charge by piezo materials (usually in the form of crystals or ceramics), then stored and used as a power source. It is made of the more economical material, galvanized steel as it is sturdier than most of its alternatives like aluminum and plywood and does not need reinforcement. It offers services like social network based carpooling, based on the idea of clubbing carpooling and social networking together, thereby ensuring public safety and security, reduction in fuel consumption and reduction in commuting time as a result of lesser vehicular traffic. It allows carpooling with friends, acquaintances and trustworthy colleagues via an application. Other users and the friends of the user can see who they are travelling with for a sense of security. Anonymous user tracking lets the system know where the users are at for better user matching. Further, it functions as an intelligent traffic signal. With the help of the cameras and the pressure pads installed, it efficiently records, counts and regulates the traffic. The cameras have varying functions such as recording of the number plates of cars passing by, keeping a check on law breakers and documenting the traffic volumes. Thus, Oracle offers a complete solution for the current traffic scenario of the city, keeping in mind the sustainability, safety and security without disturbing the day to day lives of its citizens.
How well does the proposed solution enable great commuter experience?
Automated signals ensures an error free and constant traffic regulation. The social network based carpooling app reduces congestion. Also it motivates users to carpool since Oracle carpooling app has social networking and great transparency and is filled with options.

The aesthetically appealing Oracle signals will help manage the congestion problems faced by indian cities and will also help beautify the city.
Environmental impact, whether the proposed idea in predominantly service based without adding more physical structures
Oracle Signals do not require an external power source. The pressure pads used to calculate the number of vehicles passing the particular signal also generate piezoelectricity generated, and this electricity is used to operate the Oracle signal system.
